On February 6, 2013, Ms. Shulman appeared with other labor and employment law practitioners on a live webinar concerning workplace defamation, presented jointly by LEL and the ABA’s Center for Professional Development. Among the topics covered were employment references, social media postings, internal corporate communications, regulatory and administrative filings, union organizing campaigns, and statutorily-protected workplace communications.

On February 22, 2013, Ms. Broach appeared with other employee benefits law practitioners on a panel concerning potential litigation under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, at the LEL Employee Benefits Committee’s mid-winter meeting in Charleston, SC. Ms. Broach presented the union/multi-employer employee benefit fund perspective on the topic, which has emerged as a major focus of labor negotiations and benefit fund administration.

On February 27, 2013, Mr. Stulberg will appear with other international employment law practitioners on a live webinar concerning pre- and post-hire background checks, presented jointly by the LEL’s International Labor and Employment Law Committee, the ABA’s Section on International Law, and the ABA’s Center for Professional Development. The program will explore the divergent jurisprudence governing criminal, credit, health, social media and other background checks in the U.S., U.K., EU and Canada.

On March 21, 2013, Mr. Stulberg will moderate a multi-national panel of labor and employment law practitioners discussing discovery in cross-border litigation, at the LEL Employee Rights and Responsibilities Committee’s Mid-Winter Meeting in Miami, FL. The panel will explore the tensions between data privacy rights in the EU and Canada with discovery rights in the U.S. and under the Hague Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad.

On March 22, 2013, Ms. Shulman will appear with other labor and employment law practitioners on a panel concerning employment issues affecting physicians, lawyers and financial services executives, at the LEL Employee Rights and Responsibilities Committee’s Mid-Winter Meeting in Miami, FL. The panel will explore the unique issues presented in the negotiation and drafting of employment and compensation agreements for, and in the departures of, such professionals.
